Our attorneys have extensive knowledge and experience in properly documenting commercial lending and related transactions in the debtor/creditor area, thereby assisting our clients in achieving innovative and cost-effective solutions to commercial banking and finance problems and disputes. We offer integrated securities advice on complex, cross-border transactions to issuers, underwriters, selling shareholders, sponsors, arrangers, lead managers, originators, dealers, trustees and depositories on a broad range of securities offerings.
We frequently act as special counsel to banks having unique corporate and regulatory needs and work closely with the bank’s local or regular counsel. We also support the day to day operations of banks and their subsidiaries, such as leasing companies, or factoring bank departments.
Corporate & Commercial Law

We also support international companies which are planning to expand their business in Greece, by concluding the necessary procedures for operating a local branch or by drafting and signing distribution agreements of goods via the collaboration with local commercial agents and authorized dealers. Our team has represented companies of all sizes in many countries on a wide range of international transactions, including factoring and forfaiting services, distribution agreements, technology transfers and licensing, debt collection, equity financing, contracts and commercial agreements, and international trade compliance matters.

Private Equity & Venture Capital
The last years, the private equity transaction market has gathered momentum again, driven in part by the return of liquidity to the leveraged finance market and the realignment of multiples and vendor expectations. Closing a successful private equity transaction requires a flexible and innovative approach and a legal team with excellent project management skills. In a fast-changing corporate environment, we help our clients meet new regulatory and tax challenges and, when appropriate, take advantage of innovations in deal structure, such as the use of representation and warranty insurance and the structuring of co-investment transactions with multiple buyers.
Our Law Firm’s team of internationally experienced lawyers advises leading private equity houses at every point of the private equity fund cycle, from acquiring or providing early “seed” or “angel” capital to investments in established businesses and industries. Our services include advice on private investments, leveraged and management buyouts, recapitalizations, subordinated debt/mezzanine financing, business formation and tax-effective investment structures, formation of investment funds, exit strategies, LBOs, MBOs, MBIs, secondary buy-outs, capital raisings, equity rights and transfer restrictions, and follow-on investments.
Our pharmaceutical practice is well reputed and our team advises international and local companies of the medical industry about the internal policies and codes of conduct, promotional practices, interaction with healthcare professionals and patient organizations, implementation of the local legislation and the Greek Pharmaceutical Companies’ Association Code of Conduct. The new pharmacovigilance legislation, which came into effect in 2012, introduced a range of new tasks and streamlined existing responsibilities for regulators and the pharmaceutical industry in the European Union (EU).
Due to the country’s economic crisis, pharmaceutical companies are subject to various commercial and ethical restrictions, mainly with reference to the pricing of pharmaceuticals and the promotion of prescription drugs. The legislation has recently amended regarding the pricing of pharmaceutical products, including permitted discounts and credits, rebates and government-imposed clawbacks by the National Health Service Organization (EOPYY), and the interactions of pharmaceutical companies with healthcare professionals and public or private organizations and the State. Our team is experienced in litigation before the administrative courts and has represented local and international pharmaceutical companies regarding rebates and clawbacks of many million euro.
Our maritime practice represents all major sectors of the maritime industry—vessel owners, operators, managers, underwriters, shippers, terminal operators, liquid and dry bulk, liquefied natural gas, container, roll-on/roll-off, passenger and/or cruise, and specialized vessels, such as offshore drilling units, power-generating barges, tugs, mobile offshore drilling units, offshore supply vessels, dredging, dive support, pipe and cable laying, fishing, and recreational boats.
Our Law Firm's clients include vessel owners and operators, underwriters, ports, marinas, energy companies, shore facilities, shipyards, investment and financing entities, industry groups and associations, as well as shippers, commodities traders, and others with maritime-related needs.
Through our work for clients, we are actively involved in all aspects of maritime-related matters, including traditional maritime issues such as collisions, groundings, charter party disputes, cargo damage, hull and machinery, product liability, and personal injury, as well as commercial litigation; criminal defence; environmental compliance; ship sale and purchase; shipbuilding, repair, conversion, and construction matters; and EU legislation and rulemaking. Our maritime lawyers are especially skilled at handling complex international maritime arbitrations, mediations, adjudications, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Due to the country’s economic crisis, planning processes are currently gaining momentum in Greece through important legislative initiatives. While the fast track framework is currently used to promote several large tourism investment projects, organized tourism activity is also promoted with the Law 4179/2013 for the support of tourism entrepreneurship, which will work in conjunction with the previous framework for spatial planning of tourism development.
Its main goal is to facilitate large scale investments, mainly integrated resorts containing hotel establishments, vacation homes, golf courses and other infrastructure, by introducing the institution of Integrated Tourism Development Areas, with special land use frameworks, which will provide guidelines and requirements depending on the location and the type of establishment (e.g. size, building ratios, distance from coast etc).
Our law firm, whose list of clients includes many companies that are active in tourism at a global level, provides a range of services relating to procedures of land selection and acquisition, contracts for the operation of tourism facilities, contracts for the provision of tourism services, long-term leasing contracts and out-of-court and judicial settlement of disputes arising from the above contracts.
Business Immigration Law
Our business immigration practice meets the requirements of international companies operating across Europe, with locations throughout the world, regarding the legal aspects of cross-border personnel transfers, as they often need to transfer talented foreign national executives, managers and professionals overseas.
We represent corporate clients in all phases of the hiring and transfer of foreign nationals—executives, managers, professionals, investors, and performing artists—to Greece and we provide advice related to the immigration-related aspects of corporate restructurings, such as mergers and acquisitions, due diligence reviews, divestitures, and other related matters. We counsel our clients about the best short- and long-term visa strategies for their specific needs. We advise them on a wide range of business immigration matters, including special occupation matters, treaty investor visas, intracompany transferee status, and other types of nonimmigrant and permanent residence strategies.
We also represent individuals, who, because of their substantial investments in Greece, do not require corporate sponsorship to immigrate and we advise on the retention or relinquishment of permanent residence status, and on naturalization and loss of nationality matters.
